Default Arb air compressor

Hello everyone, first of all sorry if I posted this on the wrong section. So everytime I go with my buddies to off-road I always end up asking to borrow a compressor to inflate my tires at the end of a trail. So I think it's time for me to get one, I'm looking into the ARB high output air compressor and I'll be mounting it into the engine compartment. To my understanding this unit is adequate enough for my 35's...is this correct? And what is the difference between the 12v vs 24v? Any helpful information and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have this compressor mounted under the hood on my JKU, it works great. you would want the 12 volt version, the 24 volt is for overseas markets I believe. It should be fine for your 35's.

I filled all 4 of my stock 255/75/17s from about 18 to 40 PSI and got 3 37x12.50x17 MTRs from 15 to 25 PSI and almost got the last 37 to 25 before it shut off on the high temp cut out. That was after wheeling all day so the compressor was already pretty hot. Hope this helps.

12V or 24V would be for a single or dual battery set up. I have the dual and love it. Theres plenty of people who are running the single without any issues and its smaller.

I have a 12v (single battery) ARB twin compressor and impressed with how fast the twin fills up my tires. Clean, out of site and efficient. I got the MORE engine bay mount which works great. I haven't used mine for flat repair, but I have seen the twin be strong enough to reseat a tire bead onto a rim on the trail.

It also helps to get some deflaters as well. I just went with ARB's and think it works well, but I don't know if there are easier/quicker/settable psi units out there that would be better.

The ARB Twin is great I have Carolina Metal Masters (CMM) underseat mount for my ARB twin.
The install of the under seat mount is a bit more onerous, as you have to remove the battery and TPM to run the hose and wire through the firewall. The benefit is that it is out of hot and dirty location.

Keep in mind, unless it has changed, the CMM mount only works for JKUs because the passenger side seat does not flip up. This was as of the last time I checked back in December. I have a 2 door and my passenger seat flips forward obviously so that people can get in the back... we were able to fabricate a similar type of mount that works with the flipping mechanism but it wasn't easy.

I too prefer mounting inside the vehicle to keep it away from dirt and water, rather than in the engine bay.

On my last jeep, I had the HO originally, it did okay for filling my 37's, but not great... and on hot days, it was fairly common to have to let it cool down a for a while between each tire. Eventually it bit the dust and I replaced it with a twin, which is an excellent compressor - aired up quickly with no need for breaks, and I occasionally ran air tools off of it (was paired with a 2 gallon tank).

On my new jeep, I just got a Viair 450P portable, since I didn't need one on board for lockers this round (Rubi) - not as fast as the twin, but sill pretty quick.

Thanks for the replies and pics....the twin looks great, it's just a little out of my price range. Can you pretty much mount the compressor anywhere?

My buddy has the ARB mounted under the hood, hooked to a sPOD. it's a really nice set up. If that's out of your range, I personally have the Tuff Stuff portable air compressor. Last trip out it was hot and dusty, and it filled all four of my 33's and two of my buddies stock tires before the thermal cut off kicked in. For 50 bucks, it's awesome. Kind of like a Viair clone. Comes with everything you need to air up tires.

Nice looking setup. Is it noisy in the cab? I'd like to run air horns off of mine when I get it so it would probably be refilling more often
